postpunk:

Felt - Gather Up Your Wings and Fly (1985)

quarterwhipped:

Have you ever wondered what a young and spry Lou Reed fronting a new romantic post punk band would sound like? This is probably close. I had never heard of this band before a couple of weeks ago, and now i’ve devoured their whole collection. This track comes from 1986. Where the fuck have i been?

It’s great stuff. It ranges from dark and moody-near goth stuff to fun romanticism layered with spikey post punk guitars. If you’re familiar with them and i’m not, then you win the hip-guy/girl point for the day. I never said i was the best at anything.

Wonderful description. If you’re like the OP here, the reverse-chronological singles compilation Absolute Classic Masterpieces is a fine place to start.

Felt is quite possibly my favorite of all time. I especially love The Strange Idols Pattern and Other Short Stories.
